What’s the difference between Google’s Adsense and Adwords programs?

Adsense and Adwords work together but are frequently confused. I find it most helpful to explain from a perspective of what role you are playing on the internet.

If you are a publisher, in other words you blog, write articles, or otherwise put content on the internet, then you may want to consider adsense as a way to make money online. Web site owners can set up adsense ads on their sites, and if their site visitors click on the ad, the site owners gets a commission. Setting up adsense ads is easy.

You create an account with google (you can use an existing gmail account)

You pick what style and colors the adsense ad will appear as on your site

You cut and paste the generated code to your site

Google looks at your content and figures out what ads are relevant to show on your site.

If you want to advertise on the internet, then you should consider adwords (also known as Google PPC – pay per click). Your goals might be to drive more traffic to your website so you can sell online or build a list through an opt-in box. Adwords takes a little more to set up than Adsense but it’s not too hard to get started. Here’s a couple of things to keep in mind.

Each time someone clicks on your ad, you pay a fee, so it is easy to run through a lot of money. Most experts advise setting a small daily budget until you have the ad tuned. Make sure you do your numbers. If it costs you a $1 per click and you get a 10% conversion on the traffic, then will you make money on a $7 product? I don’t think so.

You will have the choice on whether to advertise in the search engine results pages in the sponsored listings, or through the adsense publishing network. Each is a different strategy.

Pay attention to your keywords, you have a lot of control on not only which keywords your ad shows up for but whether you want to just appear for an exact match, the keyword phrase in a larger search term or keywords in any order.

While it’s easy to get the basics, it’s another to be successful. Google Adwords (or Search Engine Marketing) is a specialized field that successful marketers can charge good money for a successful campaign.

Increasing the Adwords Quality Score of your keywords and optimizing your Adwords campaign is definitely a must if you want to reduce your cost and increase your sales when you running some Ads using PPC Google Adwords. Because quality score effects your keywords minimum cost per click and position in the search results and also if your ad will even shown at all!

The definition of Quality Score it self is stated by google as a dynamic variable that calculated for each of your campaign keywords which combine a variety of factors and measures on how relevant your keyword is to your ad text and to a user’s search query.

The most important factors that will have an effect on your keywords Quality score can be summarized as below by Internet Marketing Indonesia:
- The history of the keyword Click Through Rate
- The Account history which is a combination of all ads and keywords in the account
- The quality of landing page
- The relevance between keyword and ads in its ad group

Some tips below you can try to improve the quality score of your keywords:
- Divide your keywords into smaller ad groups that are more targeted. You can set around 15 – 20 keywords in one targeted ad group.

- By splitting your keywords in more targeted ad groups, you can create more targeted ad copy for your ad groups. Take care of the keyword grouping as per the theme of the ad group. Then use upper case on each word on the ad copy, and include the main keyword in the title, ad copy and display URL of your ads.

- Optimize your ad copy by creating multiple ad copy at once, and analyze their performance after your ads running for about a week. Create clear, relevant, convincing & appealing ad text. Then choose the one with the best performance one and delete the others, replace with other new creatives to test.

- Test your keywords by using the matching options. Choose which best for your business either using broad match, phrase match or exact match, see which one is giving you higher quality score and lower minimum CPC.

- Include your keywords on the meta tag of your landing page, as title tag, description tag and keywords tag.

- Complete your landing page by adding links to some informative pages such as the privacy policy page, about us page, terms and conditions page and a contact us page.

- Do some link building to your landing page by using the keywords you use at your campaign as the anchor text.

- Take notice on the load time of your landing page. Do not place some heavy graphics on your landing page. The load time also should be faster if you use a hosting server in your targeted geographic region.

In general, analyzing your quality score and its usage is about making a better ROI from your Adwords campaign. If you keep analyzing and testing new scenarios whilst staying committed to measurement your business will get in better results.

Tips for Promoting Your Home Business Website – PART1 (Read PPC Classroom 2 to learn more)

Do you have your own home based business? Do you have a website for it? If so, then you need to promote the website for your home business to bring in even more business. There are a few tips for promoting your home business website that will bring you more customers.

One way to promote your home business website is to list it with the search engines. A search engine is an internet directory that is designed to make your website easier to locate and easier for a potential customer to access it. Each search engine listing will include a link to your website. If your website does not get listed within the top twenty of the major search engines, then chances are that your website will rarely be seen. Since a recent survey showed that between 84% to 92% of internet users the world over use search engines to find what they need, you will definitely want to take advantage of this tool. You can also get instant traffic with PPC. Learn more by reading PPC Classroom 2. The top three search engines to be listed in are MSN, Yahoo, and Google.

Another way to promote your business website is via RSS feeds and blogs. A blog is just a short way of say Web Log. Blogging is just basically uploading text onto the same place on the internet daily, weekly, monthly, or at least on a regular basis. The best people to blog are people who write because it is their passion. You can hire someone to do this for you or you can do it yourself. There are many websites on the internet that are dedicated to web logs.

Have you ever went to a website and see a banner at the top of the page advertising another website? This is another form of promoting your business website. You can create a banner with a simple paint program, like Photoshop. If you want to animate it, there are animation programs out there, too. There are many banner exchange websites online that will allow you to place your banner on their website. Banner exchanges are pretty easy to participate in; however, these types of exchanges most likely will not let you pick and choose who you want to trade with.

Another way to advertise your home business website is by opt-in mailing. Bulk emailing is the practice of sending mass quantities of email to lists of unqualified email address. This is considered spam and is considered to be in bad taste. If you send unsolicited email to people that do not want commercial email, you will run the risk of ruining the reputation of your business and getting into trouble with your ISP. It is best for you to use targeted direct email. This means that you will be sending your email to people that have approved or opted in to receive this type of email. There are many websites on the internet that provide this type of service for you and are definitely worth checking out. Also you could have a look at PPC Classroom 2, Pay per click can definitely help you send targeted traffic to any website almost instantly.

Pay per click or PPC advertising is one of the several internet marketing strategies used by online marketers today. Recent polls showed that next to search engine optimization and blogging, PPC is the most recommended marketing tactic by experienced business marketers.

How does PPC Work?

PPC advertisers post their PPC ads on content sites, blogs, search engines, and other networks, which they pay a certain amount every time a user clicks on their ads. PPC offers a means of income for bloggers and an attractive package to online marketers as well.

In the major search engines like Yahoo and Google, pay per click advertisers usually bid for keywords they want to target. Such keywords may have been the product of extensive keyword research done by the Internet marketers. Once competition, if any, for the desired keywords are eliminated, these keywords are then inserted in the PPC ads, which are then posted.

Every time someone puts up a query for the keyword, the PPC ad is pulled out by the search engine and shown along with the search results. Other content websites require a fixed fee for ads instead of bidding. Pay per click boosts any Internet marketing campaign because it allows the advertiser the freedom to choose where his ad will appear.

There are various PPC providers online marketers could turn to but as of today, Google Adwords, Microsoft adCenter, and Yahoo Search Marketing are the leaders in PPC advertising. The costs per click to be paid by business marketer differ, depending on the search engine and the competition for the targeted keywords.
